CONTINGENT searches are about speed, because there’s always the fear that another recruiter or the company will be looking for candidates so the recruiter HAS to send in ANYONE who is remotely feasible for the position so they have at least a SHOT at the fee.

Even though it’s a “deeper dive”, the retained and engaged searches tend to end more quickly as we are ACTIVELY targeting the perfect fit. The process is laser-focused, and we are compelled to spend time on your search, because we know we are both committed to a great hire.

Engaged and retained searches attract a higher quality of candidate because we share all of the company information with the candidate. Contingent searches hold back and the recruiter never shares the client name with the candidate. If they do, they risk the chance that the candidate will apply directly to the company, or call friends at the company and “bypass” the recruiter resulting in no fee and a recruiters wasted time. So contingent recruiters are purposefully vague and won’t share details about the company. Because of that, there is a lack of trust between the candidate and recruiter; and many of the direct-recruits feel like it’s a waste of time to discuss a position without all of the details.

In a contingent search, candidates are often approached by multiple recruiters which “cheapens” the view of the company to top-level talent. Not a great way to make a good first impression on rock star talent.
